About

Creátus Chamber was formed in 2016 primarily to explore and study Sacred Polyphony. As most of its repertoire was used in a liturgical setting, Creátus Chamber aims to share a more spiritual interpretation of the music for various audiences; as well as its history and how it remains to be beautiful and relevant for the modern listener.

The group has been a regular participant at the Voices of Singapore festival and has had collaborations and joint concerts with various singing groups in Singapore: Cappella Martialis, The Crescendos, Vox Camerata as well as around the region with the Byrd Consort (Australia/UK) and Ottophony (Malaysia).

Milestones from our past

2016
Creátus Chamber was formed with a few singers presenting Sacred Polyphony at Mass once every 3 – 4 months.

2017 – 2019
We started recording projects of our own, as well as received invitations for collaborations with other choral societies in Singapore and around the region. Creátus Chamber also started being featured in public performances and choral festivals like the annual Voices of Singapore Festival. Collaborations included Cappella Martialis (SG), Vox Camerata (SG), The Crescendos (SG), Ottophony (Malaysia), The Byrd Consort (UK/Australia). Concert venues included various churches from different congregations locally, as well as at the Esplanade Recital Studio and the historic Armenian Church Singapore.

2020 – 2021
The COVID period limited all choral activities in Singapore, and we could only meet online via ZOOM meetings. We reached out to international choral clinicians and lecturers to continue our development and training, as well as to discover new music.

2022 – Present
In the years since COVID, Creátus Chamber has been re-building the chamber choir as well as hosting the annual “Sacred Choral Stories” concert series. Collaborations include choirs such as Sancti Petri et Pauli Choir (SG), St. Joseph’s Church (Victoria Street, Singapore), Serenata Choir (SG), and St. Cecilia’s Choir (SPP Church, SG).
